Men don't always have the best ideas when it comes to women . . .

I love old musicals! This one, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, is a hoot! In this scene, the seven brothers were talking about how they each had girls they loved down in the town. Their problem is that soon their mountain home would be snowed in and they wouldn't get to see the girls for months and by that time the girls might be married.

So, their "brilliant" brother tells them a story about a group of Romans who snatched a bunch of girls and made them their wives. The idea being that it worked for them, why not for us?

It is good to remember that men don't always have the best ideas when it comes to women . . .

Yeah. Of course their plan doesn't go as smoothly as they imagined it would. Shocker. They had to go through a period of banishment to the barn and begging forgiveness.

I highly recommend this movie. It is fun in a "Everybody has to learn the true meaning of love" kind of way.

True Love vs. Exploitation : The ultimate examples

I've talked a lot this week about what true love is and isn't. I've given examples, and I've shared quotes and opinions.

In reality, there are far too many people who are dealing with more than their fair share of exploitation or the effects of exploitation, and not enough True Love from someone who should be giving it.

So, have you seen the graphic above? Always remember that there are those who will love you always. They are there through thick and thin. There is no love that could ever match that of Christ and Heavenly Father's.

On the other hand, the adversary will always want you to be the lowest possible. His message is the opposite of love. And there is no hate that could ever match that of the Adversary's.

Two sides here. Both wanting your attention.

We don't always get to choose our lots in life. But this here is your decision completely. Choosing to remember Christs love, the truest love ever, is your choice.

Sometimes our situations or other people try to choose the opposite of true love for us. But in this it is not their/ its choice. Because of Christ, we are all part of the truest love there is. No matter what others do, I am given that true love.

And I'm divorced, so you know that I am completely sincere in what I am saying. This is true, no matter your relationship status.

If you are struggling with true love this Valentine's day, remember this. That Christ died in order to give you the truest love available. It is yours, and no one can take it from you.

So, from one loved person to another, Have a Happy Valentine's Day. We are given the love that truly counts. The love that is most important.

Online vs. Real Women

"But I am right here. How could you go looking for something totally fake and bad when something totally real and good is right in front of you."

It's hard to fathom.

Do you think if a pornography addict was being mugged and Superman came to rescue him, he'd turn superman away and just show the mugger a picture of superman?

Because yeah, that's about how much sense the addiction makes too.

Because it isn't about superman. Superman can be awesome and have super strength and speed and the addict would still have his addiction.

Wait, I think I got that wrong . . .

Because it isn't about the wife. The wife can be awesome and creepily and falsely "perfect" in every way and the addict would still have his addiction.

In real life, woman are REAL. Our bodies aren't perfect, and most of us are just trying to get everything done in the short 24 hours we humans like to call: a day!

But none of that matters. We are real. We are hopeful, and want the best in life. We are REAL! We are GOOD! We are of WORTH!

But the addiction has taken over. Which means that very real, good things won't be receiving the attention they deserve.

But it helps to know that it isn't personal (even if the addict says it is). Someone else's choices can not effect my worth. And someone else's issues do not reflect on me.

I can be real, and that is NORMAL.

Hey!!!!! REMEMBER also that we are currently running a LifeStar Coupon for their 6 day intensive outpatient program! Go to the deals tab at the top for more info and a link to the post with the coupon!!!!!!!!!

I don't think there needs to be much narrative on this. The quote speaks pretty well for itself.

As a general rule, people should try to fall in love with an actual person . . . I'm just saying.

Respect vs Violence

This is True Love Vs. Exploitation week here on Get2theGist. It started last year, the week before Valentine's day with the boycott of the 50 shades movie. That was a crazy week for me. I blogged at least 3 times a day, I wrote an article for Deseret News, was interviewed on iHeart Radio, etc., etc. etc.

It was all about standing up for true love, exposing pornography and abuse for what they really are, and supporting the true victims of these abusive relationships. Because it's all hurt and pain until somebody dies, right?

This is serious stuff, a living hell for everyone involved. And yet the world wants to depict pornography and abuse as acceptable. People die from these relationships getting too out of hand. All it takes is one time when things go too far, and then somebody gets hurt.

Not to mention the whole host of spouses who are dealing with the trauma and hurt from their husband or wive's addiction.

No matter how you look at it, putting abuse, pornography, and other forms of exploitation into a marriage is not healthy one bit.

This year, the week is going to be all about setting the record straight and finding the truth. Exposing pornography and abuse for what they really are: crap. And not anywhere near a semblance of true love.

True love is respect. It's concern for one another and caring about each other.

Exploitation is the opposite of that.

And no one should mistake that.

We all deserve respect, concern, caring, peace, and support. If not from anyone else, then ourselves. Though you should always remember that the Savior has this for you and more.

What do you think true love is?

How to plan a political party! Part 2

So, my previous post "How to plan a political party! Part 1" has gotten some good views. So, I figured that we'd keep the party going and move on to part 2. Life should be full of celebrations!

The Democrats! Bum-Bum-Buuuuuum!

Last time we focused on the Republicans, this time we are heading to the left. Though we are still focusing on food. After all, that is the most important part of the party. Am I right?

With the Republicans I mostly used food that fit with their name. With last night's Democrat debate I used food that fit with their platforms. Either way is perfectly acceptable at your "political party."

Clinton and Sanders just lend themselves to all sorts of ideas. Hillary's mug shot soda? Bernie's wanna be Chinese orange chicken? Ha! Hilary-ous!

I felt a little bad for O'malley, so I gave him a spot there as you can see.

Then, what party is complete without some social interaction? We did some research, and according to the information we found on CNN money, the average of the Clinton and Sanders' proposed top tax bracket would take away approximately 53% of the income.

So, we made cookies and gave away approximately 53% of them through my Facebook page.

It was fun, and now someone is hopefully enjoying all our yummy work!

Party On!

Stay on the Sidewalk

Story 1: There once was a man who got off the train when it was his stop. He stayed on the sidewalk and walked to the crosswalk. Then he waited until the sign said to cross. Then he did.

OOOOOOh... I know. Riveting!

Story 2: There once was a man who got off the train when it was his stop. He didn't want to take the ten extra steps to walk to the end of the platform, so he turned and cut his way across the train tracks and . . .

Cliff hanger? Yup. Because it is. look at this picture. When the person started walking across the tracks, they had no way of knowing if there would be a car coming by the time they got around that barrier.

Not to mention it just isn't advisable to walk on train tracks . . .

Life is the same way. When you are making wrong decisions, you surrender yourself to the consequences.

Life is crazy enough without walking across the metaphorical tracks. Sometimes "I'm sure I'll be fine," just won't be enough.

Stay on the Sidewalk.

What is the most important thing our society needs?

So, what would you say is the most important thing our society needs?

World Peace?
Harsher Punishments for Parole Violators?
A deep breath?
More common sense?
A longer memory?
A healthy appreciation for 1980's pop music?
Thicker Skin?
Or D: All of the above?

The ideas are endless!

It's a tough question, really. And your answer will probably be influenced by your life experiences.

Personally, what I think the most important thing that our society needs is the truth and bravery to stand up for what is right. Ok, so that is 2 things. But, still. If everyone had a B.S. meter in good working condition, if everyone told and knew the truth, and if everyone had the strength to act on that truth?

Holy crud. We'd have a different world.

I also think that everyone should own an ice cream machine. But, that's just me.

How would you answer the question? What is the most important thing our society needs?
